Led by volunteers and supported by Learning Undefeated, the STEM Leadership Experience is built around relationship-building and mentorship, featuring lab activities, interactive discussions, and personal storytelling. By breaking down barriers and creating space for honest conversations, the program empowers girls to envision themselves in STEM careers—and gives mentors the chance to make a lasting impact.

The STEM Leadership Experience is a unique volunteer opportunity for STEM professionals looking to give back—and shape the future of their industry. By partnering with Learning Undefeated, your team can play a direct role in building the talent pipeline: mentoring high school students through hands-on lab experiences, career conversations, and real-world exposure to STEM pathways.

What’s a Typical Day in the Workshop Look Like? Here’s a Sample Schedule of a STEM Leadership Workshop

(Each workshop is customized based on the volunteer group and host site.)

Each workshop event is tailored to the goals of the volunteer group and the needs of the student audience. Learning Undefeated provides logistical support and curriculum guidance (and in some case, the setting – a Mobile STEM Lab), while volunteers take the lead in engaging with students and sharing their personal journeys in STEM.

2:30 PM – Volunteer Orientation

Volunteers are briefed on the lab activity, event flow, and mentorship goals.

3:15 PM – Student Arrival + Icebreaker Bingo

Students grab a snack and get to know their mentors and workshop peers in a relaxed setting.

3:30 PM – “What’s your –ology” Panel Discussion

A discussion panel will feature 3 – 4 STEM professionals at different stages of their career path, who will talk with students about their jobs and the rewards of working in STEM. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions in person and we can also seed the discussion with questions collected during the registration process.

4:00 PM – Hands-On Lab Activity

Students break into small groups (4 students per table) with 1 mentor and work through a lab led by a Learning Undefeated educator. Mentors guide students, share stories, and model curiosity and confidence.

4:45 PM – Certificates & Networking

Students receive certificates and enjoy unstructured time to connect with mentors!

5:15 PM – The Workshop Concludes

Students and mentors leave inspired, invigorated, optimistic and excited by this shared experience.
