You may have heard of dry ice, but do you know what it is? To understand dry ice you need to understand the three states of matter: solid, liquid and gas. Dry ice is actually frozen carbon dioxide, frozen at -110 degrees Fahrenheit.

In this video clip that aired on WJLA’s Outside the Classroom on July 22, 2020, Education Director Joe Wilkerson shows how you can take dry ice directly from a solid to a gas through a process called sublimation.
