You are invited to participate in the 2018 ATLAS expo, hosted by Learning Undefeated in partnership with Montgomery College. Advancing Tomorrow’s Leaders in STEM (ATLAS) is a college and career readiness symposium that increases awareness of STEM to promote rewarding and high paying jobs within Maryland and the mid-Atlantic region. ATLAS connects students typically underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) with business leaders, colleges, government, and potential employers.

A limited number of expo tables are available, so register early!

Who Exhibits at ATLAS?

Corporations, nonprofit organizations, schools, and many types of other organizations have participated in MdBio’s ATLAS events. The ATLAS expo is ideal for:

  • Anyone who wants to spread the word about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and STEM careers
  • Companies who employ recent graduates with degrees in STEM fields
  • Companies with internship, job-shadowing, and/or mentorship programs
  • Companies with a strong demand for entry-level and middle-skills employees

What Happens During the Expo?

Expo companies interact with students, teachers, company representatives, and elected officials to share information about STEM and STEM careers. Exhibitors normally provide the following information for ATLAS participants.

  • Giveaways with company logo
  • Information about job and internship availabilities
  • Examples and demonstrations of your organization’s products and services
  • Short experiments, models, or hands-on activities if relevant
  • Information about mentoring and job shadowing programs
  • Scholarship information
  • Information about educational programs and career advancement opportunities
  • Two- and four-year colleges, universities, after school programs, and other student resources
  • Military recruiters with opportunities in STEM careers

ATLAS Expo Location, Schedule & Details

ATLAS will take place at Montgomery College Germantown Campus, located at 20200 Observation Dr, Germantown, MD 20876. Ample free parking is available.

The draft schedule for the November 9, 2018 ATLAS event is as follows (subject to change):

  • 9 – 10:30 AM: Expo setup
  • 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM: Expo (lunch served). Students will be divided into cohort groups and each student will participate in one hour of unopposed expo time during the event.
  • 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM: Hands-on workshops for student cohort groups (alternating with expo time)
  • 1:30 PM:  Expo tear-down

Participation in the ATLAS Expo is free for exhibitors. Each expo participant will receive the following materials/equipment, at no cost:

  • 6′ x 2.5′ table, unskirted
  • chairs
  • name tent with your company name
  • Wireless internet access
  • Limited power access is also available
