Guest Speaker (on mobile lab or in classroom)

Time commitment: 1 – 2 hours

One of the main reasons that students don’t consider a career in STEM is the lack of relatable role model, but Learning Undefeated is changing that by connecting students with STEM professionals from all backgrounds, at all stages of their career. In particular, we are seeking young, enthusiastic, and passionate STEM professionals to talk with middle and high school students onboard our mobile lab, or in a classroom setting.

Host a Company Tour

Time commitment: 2 – 4 hours

Is your workplace amazing? Many of our students have never had the chance to see inside a real laboratory, manufacturing facility, or tech development company. We’re always looking for ambassadors within a STEM company to host a student tour.

Content Development

Time commitment: 10 – 25 hours

Collaborate with our educators to help develop new curriculum in your subject matter area of expertise. Topics range from cybersecurity to engineering to chemistry – your topic area could become part of our curriculum onboard a mobile laboratory!

Event Volunteers

Time commitment: 2 – 4 hours

Several times per year, Learning Undefeated participates in large-scale public events that require additional hands to support our small but mighty staff team. Typical event volunteer activities may include helping students to complete an engineering challenge using everyday materials, judging student competitions, and/or sharing your enthusiasm for STEM by talking with students and parents about your professional journey.

Event locations vary but generally take place across Maryland and Washington, DC.

Advancing Tomorrow's Leaders in STEM (ATLAS)

Time commitment: 4 – 8 hours

ATLAS connects students typically underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) with business leaders, colleges, government, and potential employers. Learning Undefeated offers ATLAS once per year.

We have structured the ATLAS expo to provide meaningful interactions with tomorrow’s STEM leaders as well as corporations, nonprofit organizations, schools, and government agencies. Companies participating in the expo can their company’s STEM achievements and share information about internship, job shadowing, or mentorship opportunities with ATLAS participants. Learn more about ATLAS expo >

Also at the ATLAS events, Learning Undefeated is seeking energetic young professionals to lead student cohorts during the event and share their passion for STEM.

Student Competition Judges

Time commitment: 1 – 2 hours, from your office or home

Learning Undefeated operates multiple student competitions each year, including the Maryland BioGENEius Competition. Between May 1 June 30, we need experienced professionals to serve as volunteer judges. Just a one-hour time commitment; no prep work or follow-up obligations are required. Judging is conducted virtually.

Student Service Learning (SSL) Hours

Time commitment: minimum 1 hour

Learning Undefeated is a proud affiliate of the Montgomery County Volunteer Center and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). We take part in offering middle school and high school students service learning opportunities throughout the state of Maryland.
