“The PORT-Able Learning Lab is shaping student attitudes and building awareness of maritime career pathways by letting students know that there are great jobs waiting for them right here in their hometown,” said Learning Undefeated’s Chief Marketing Officer Janeé Pelletier. “Igniting interest in STEM and maritime jobs across the Coastal Bend, our PORT-Able Learning Lab is reinforcing our efforts at the Port of Corpus Christi to cultivate the workforce of the future,” added Rosaura Bailey, Director of Community Relations for the Port of Corpus Christi.
The DSEC initiative, valued at up to $190 million over 10 years, aims to enhance STEM education across the nation and includes more than $5M for Learning Undefeated’s STEM outreach programming.
This week, nonprofit Learning Undefeated hosted 18 education officials from Nigeria who are interested in developing a mobile STEM laboratory program for their county. “Our mission to drive race and gender equity in STEM directly supports community groups to help co-develop, deploy, and self-manage community-based mobile STEM education. We hope this is the start of a collaborative relationship that will create a huge impact for the youth in Nigeria.”
